Insanity & Doom Update LIII

Item Recognizing Women Leaders in Fire Science

cross the breadth of fire science disciplines, women are leaders in fire research and development. We want to acknowledge some of these leaders to promote diversity across our disciplines. In Fire, we are also happy to announce a new Special Collection, through which we will continue to acknowledge current and future Diversity Leaders in Fire Science by inviting contributions from the leaders in this editorial, among others.

This is a peer-reviewed journal. Question: What does having a front hole (recall our previous insanity) have to do with knowing how to put out a fire? Answer: Nothing. Question: Why then would a journal devoted to understanding fires speak glowingly of Diversity Leaders in Fire Science? Answer: Because they are insane and because the science of fire has been demoted to a not very interesting thing, a platform only for the exercise of power, and women need to be given without merit that platform so that they can exercise power over the men who gave them the platform. Which is a much longer way of saying Insanity.

Item Professors allow students to pick their own grade (Thanks to Bruce Foutch for the link.)

A literature class at Davidson College this fall will use “contract grading,” allowing students to pick ahead of time their grade for the class and the workload they need to complete to earn it.

The offer is posed by Professor Melissa Gonzalez for her Introduction to Spanish Literatures and Cultures course, SPA 270, at the private liberal arts college in Davidson, North Carolina.

She is one of several professors across the nation who allow this pick-your-own grade method, billed as a way to eliminate the student-professor power differential and give students control of their education. But critics contend it is just another example of how colleges coddle students from the harsh realities of the real world, which includes competition and goal expectations.

Question: What grade do you think most students will assign themselves in the power-spreader Gonzalez’s class? Answer: Yes, it was a rhetorical question not in need of answer. Question: Why would a professor want to eliminate the student-professor power differential and give students control of their education when, by definition, students are ignorant and must be told what is best for them to learn? Answer 1: Insanity: nothing explains why a professor would voluntarily give power away that is needed to do her job as a gift to students who are too ignorant to use it wisely. This is the same insanity as that embraced by the firemen above.

Item 3 Pennsylvania men charged with 1,460 counts of ‘sexual intercourse with animals’

Three Pennsylvania men have been arrested and charged with 1,460 counts of “sexual intercourse with animals,” in addition to animal abuse and endangering the welfare of children, according to Clearfield County District Attorney.

In what District Attorney William A. Shaw, Jr described as one of the “most extreme cases of animal abuse,” the three suspects were detained after a search at their makeshift farm last week, authorities announced on Monday. Bail was set at $100,000 each for Terry Wallace, 41, Matthew Brubaker, 32, and Marc Measnikoff, 34.

Question: Why would these men simulate sex with horses? Answer: Not Insanity. The answer is because lusting after horses and the beasts of the field is these men’s orientation. And orientations are sacred things. Look for Fr James Martin to give testimony for the defense, demanding the prosecutor apologize for calling their acts “animal abuse”, when, in fact, these men saw what they did as acts of love. These men have gifts and qualities that were made by God to help the rest of us understand out prejudices and bigotry. They need be praised not prosecuted.

Item Brown researcher first to describe rapid-onset gender dysphoria

Rapid-onset gender dysphoria might spread through groups of friends and may be a harmful coping mechanism, a new study suggests, but more research is needed.

Clinicians have reported that this kind of gender dysphoria is on the rise, particularly for patients whose sex was observed to be female at birth. Additionally, the numbers of adolescents seeking care for gender dysphoria has increased dramatically. It is unknown why these changes are occurring.

Question: What is the sex of the baby “observed to be female at birth”? Answer: Female, always and forevermore. Question: What of those females who say they are really males? Answer: Insanity.

Steve Sailer is calling this the new anorexia, whereby “moody teens” embrace the latest fad.

  1. Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria did not exist five years ago. It had never existed in the history of ever.

This is why we keep saying that you need to protect the children from the crazies.

The Left keeps pushing insanity. It’s all they have. Their world view is so skewed that they can’t tell up from down, black from white, good from evil. Once we accept their premises and start speaking falsehoods to ourselves, they have won. When we deny reality, the Adversary chuckles in glee.

Remember when Anna Wilson, Australian Physics Eddication teacher, hit the nooz by saying that boys were advantaged in physics because they can play “pee games” and thus learn about trajectories, etc.? Well, just about any non-overmommed boy learns, usually while playing with matches, preferably of the “strike-anywhere” kind, the best way to put out a fire is to pee on it. Therefore, I expect the cis-ladies to be disadvantaged in a Major Way in the heretofore-unknown-to-me exotic discipline of Fire Science (is there a Nobel Prize for Fire Science?).

N.B.: I was a volunteer fireman for several years. Fire hoses are the ne plus ultra for adult pee play.

  3. “Their world view is so skewed that they can’t tell up from down, black from white, good from evil. ”

Oh, but they can tell very well, brother!

And they embrace and celebrate down/black/evil! They are perversity personified.

Their beliefs require them to oppose normal/natural/good/moral. They know their beliefs are abnormal/unnatural/bad/immoral.

That knowledge is exactly why they operate as they do.

Their only goal is to destroy all things normal/natural/good/moral.

They are Politically Correct Progressives, and that is their mission.

Misunderstanding their beliefs and motivations–diagnosing their actions as evidence of stupidity or blindness–just leaves Normals wide open to the ravages of the PC-Progs’ destruction.

But don’t you have to learn all about phlogiston theory to become proficient in fire science? That is really complicated. I still have some vague memories of my thermodynamics course where we learned about phlogiston.

  5. Gary

Why would a professor want to eliminate the student-professor power differential and give students control of their education when, by definition, students are ignorant and must be told what is best for them to learn?

Not insanity. She simply wants to avoid responsibility for grading. It’s work and low grades generate complaints from students. She still retains the power of her position without the hassles that go with it. And the kids are just fine with it since their effort levels are not challenged. Everybody “wins” by losing the most important thing — learning.

  6. Kent – I won’t disagree with you for the upper echelons. But the mid-tier rabble rousers actually believe thus claptrap. They are just sufficiently brainwashed by university educations and being surrounded by others that they have accepted the programming. “There are six fingers!”

The vast majority of bottom feeders just repeat the mantras of the day to survive in their peer groups. “We have always been at war with Eurasia!”

  7. Uncle Mike

Fire science is as phony as climate science, or even more so if that were possible. Their papers are sheer junk. Their “journals” are a bad joke. Their real world failures are too many to list and horribly tragic. It’s not just the women — it’s every last phony charlatan in the freak show.

  8. Frederic

Pouncer has given us the truth in hell link…..fascinating paper btw

I see too much social justice warrior nonsense in electrical engineering journals, too. Most of it involves the worship of the global warming hypothesis, which is at least relevant in that electrical engineers do a lot of the work in building the over-subsidized “alternative energy” systems. But diversity pops up too. Sigh.

BTW, the SJW’s in electrical engineering appear to have never used their EE knowledge to examine the impact of intermittent (“alternative”) energy sources to the economics of the electrical grid. And, I doubt that any of them know that the per kWh subsidy for these sources is the same as the total cost of natural gas generation.

SJW’s do as SJW’s do. Even “hard” subjects like engineering don’t keep out these fools.
