The Week In Doom — Eugenics Panic Edition

Item

Talking about penises isn’t helping the conversation.

Don’t miss the point where she said “A child isn’t born with a sex.”

Colin Wright, a scientist and man of the left, reacted to that video saying “More overt sex denialism. Labour Party politician Dawn Butler states on TV that children are ‘born without a sex.’ This isn’t some esoteric and benign academic theory. This is becoming MAINSTREAM and codified into law! Ignore it and stay silent at your own peril.”

This tickled me, and I responded, “I find rather adorable the reaction of scientists on the left when they realize the mob has suddenly come for them. They always are surprised the Fantasy-Reality line didn’t stop at their specialty. Welcome to the fight, Colin!”

I say Wright is left because of the next item, which doesn’t at first seem to be a Doom item. It’s a Wall Street Journal op ed written by Wright and one Emma Hilton.

The Dangerous Denial of Sex

Transgender ideology harms women, gays—and especially feminine boys and masculine girls.

…Yet it’s one thing to claim that a man can “identify” as a woman or vice versa. Increasingly we see a dangerous and antiscientific trend toward the outright denial of biological sex….reproductive anatomy is unambiguously male or female at birth more than 99.98% of the time.

And so on, giving all the arguments with which regular readers are familiar. Then this, the reason for Doom.

Denying the reality of biological sex and supplanting it with subjective “gender identity” is not merely an eccentric academic theory. It raises serious human-rights concerns for vulnerable groups including women, homosexuals and children.

Women have fought hard for sex-based legal protections. Female-only spaces are necessary due to the pervasive threat of male violence and sexual assault…

The denial of biological sex also erases homosexuality, as same-sex attraction is meaningless without the distinction between the sexes. Many activists now define homosexuality as attraction to the “same gender identity” rather than the same sex. This view is at odds with the scientific understanding of human sexuality. Lesbians have been denounced as “bigots” for expressing a reluctance to date men who identify as women. The successful normalization of homosexuality could be undermined by miring it in an untenable ideology.

Wright, when he wrote this, anyway, didn’t understand tranny madness is a direct outgrowth of welcoming homosexuals, and the classifying women as both equal and simultaneously weak. The “successful normalization of homosexuality” has had devastating consequences. Which also, since Wright is an evolutionist, a strange thing, because of course homosexuality is extremely dysgenic. And therefore harmful to the species.

Anyway, to his great credit, the now-startled Wright has been unearthing some excellent Doom items, the picture heading today’s post being one of them. “Graduate student applications at UC Santa Cruz ask not only about your gender identity, but about how masculine/feminine you present. While voluntary, this seems like an extremely odd thing to ask.”

Not odd in the least. A good way to target normals so that they can be bullied into professing belief in fantasy over Reality.

Dawkins on eugenics

It’s one thing to deplore eugenics on ideological, political, moral grounds. It’s quite another to conclude that it wouldn’t work in practice. Of course it would. It works for cows, horses, pigs, dogs & roses. Why on earth wouldn’t it work for humans? Facts ignore ideology.

I’d say rather ideology ignores facts. Virtue signal: of course eugenics for humans doesn’t work. Why, a white couple from Norway is equally likely to have a white as a black baby. Sex for babies doesn’t exist, so neither does race. Or any other trait.

Okay, enough of that. Dawkins went on to disclaim any sympathy for systematic human eugenics, but it was too late, of course. The mob descended upon him.

It’s clear that we would never want scientists in charge of any kind of official government-based eugenics push. Scientists are just as prone to madness as anybody else, maybe even more so. Their powers to do good are matched by their ability to destroy. Consider how many human beings they flush down the toilet in IVF and during the testing for genetic diseases. The flushing is labeled a “treatment” or “cure”. What if we advocated that same cure for the common cold?

No. No official eugenics ever. Even forgetting the morality, the over-certainty of genetics models alone is enough justification to ban it. On the other hand, it’s also beyond absurd to deny what we can call practical eugenics, which many of you practiced when you picked your mates.

Mandatory reporting laws come into effect

Clergy are required to report abuse heard in confession or face up to three years in prison.

“[WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN!]” said Attorney-General Jill Hennessy.

The Children Legislation Amendment Bill 2019 followed a recommendation in the 2017 final report of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sex Abuse that mandatory reporting laws no longer provide an exemption for clergy, nor for sacramental confession.

The new laws also ensure the disclosures are not exempt under the Failure to Disclose Offence in the Crimes Act and allows survivors of institutional abuse to apply to the courts to have their unfair historical compensation payments overturned.

What the female Attorney-General actually said was “From [today], our promise to put the safety of children ahead of the secrecy of the confession is in full effect and there is no excuse for people who fail to report abuse.”

This is a law worth breaking. Priests must become criminals. Priests, like us, will not be allowed to use the excuse “I was just following orders.”

NHS to deny health care to homophobes

Tweet: “Homophobic, sexist and racist patients could be barred from non-emergency care at NHS trusts, under new rules from April”.

That lead to this headline: NHS staff can refuse to treat racist or sexist patients under new rules.

Sexist and racist patients could be barred from non-emergency care at NHS trusts, under new rules to be enforced from April.

Currently, staff can refuse to treat non-critical patients who are verbally aggressive or physically violent towards them.

But these protections will extend to any harassment, bullying or discrimination, including homophobic, sexist or racist remarks.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock wrote to all NHS staff on Tuesday to announce stronger measures to investigate abuse and harassment towards staff, saying “no act of violence or abuse is minor”.

Some acts of “violence” or “abuse” are, in fact, minor. And some are not even violent or abusive.

Since in England “homophobia” is, it seems, classified as every behavior and attitude shy of full-throated hysterical acceptance, the hospitals are very soon going to empty out. Or we’ll see a host of folks who had been holding strong abandon their principles, once they get sick.

The leftist singularity is gaining mass, the spiral quickens.

Steven Spielberg’s daughter launches adult entertainment career, says dad supports her sex worker ambitions

Spielberg’s daughter, who lives in Nashville, Tenn., has already submitted an application to become a sex worker — and the self-proclaimed “sexual creature” shared in the revealing interview that her famous father is supportive of her endeavors.

According to the aspiring star, the “Schindler’s List” director and his wife, Kate Capshaw, were “intrigued” when she shared the news with them of her new porn gig over the weekend. She added that her parents were “not upset” by her revelation…

The 73-year-old director’s daughter opened up about past abuse by “predators” during her early years by “outsiders” who had no relation to the “Jaws” filmmaker. She’s also been open about her borderline personality disorder.

Wait. You need to get a license in Tennessee to become a whore? Back in the old days of the evil patriarchy, women did this without having to ask for permission. Now in the matriarchy they need to pay a fee. Progress.

But it does make you wonder if all those rumors about this woman’s adoptive father are true…

  1. Time to get rid of confessionals and go to straight confessions to God, like all other Christian religions do. I have never understood the need for an intermediary. It seems like a power trip for priests. It’s very unfair to put humans in the position of God, having truths confessed that are illegal, immoral, etc and then expecting them to never tell. God doesn’t tell. That should be good enough. (I don’t mean to sound trite but I have never, ever gotten a satisfactory answer to why confession to a human being exists, as it is nowhere in the Bible, and only in one denomination. It puts priests in horrible situations, knowing the truth and having to protect abusers and killers.)

Of course eugenics works. Done properly, you get exactly the society you want. Evil, kind, passive, etc. You do have to kill the “failures” and you need a tyrant, but it does work. As to improving humanity, nope, that does not happen.

Feminist wanted a 100% equal society. Erasing sex/gender yeilds that. Why aren’t they celebrating?????

  2. Sheri: yes, you can confess your sins directly to God and receive absolution. The pastor, or priest, is there to assure you of that absolution. When you confess alone, in your heart, being a fallen human there is always a doubt. The worse the sin the more your heart, and Satan, will say “am I really forgiven?” That doubt can lead to despair and the despair to damnation. When the pastor tells you “your sins are forgiven”, even if just in the public confession at the beginning of the service, God Himself is behind the words.

  3. Confession to a priest is a sacrament; we’re not giving it up. Priests have gone to jail for not breaking the Seal of Confession, they will again.

  4. People don’t know enough to understand that we are already living Margaret Sanger’s version of eugenics, and that if you understand her goals, it has sort of worked. Sanger said there were far too many variables to be able to pick out the “right” traits, but that if you just controlled the population, in about two generations those traits would pretty much take care of themselves. She thought that the right sort of people naturally wanted to limit their numbers (yes, she thought wanting to have a lot of children was a sign that you shouldn’t have any), so all you had to do was keep the rest from breeding — forcibly, if necessary, but by persuasion if possible. Within two generations, she thought, we would be much more prosperous, we would all get more of our scarce resources, we would have a lot of sex, and sexual energies unleashed would lead to happiness, an amazing cultural flourishing, and world peace.
Again, we sort of have many of these things. Certainly people in the West have far more stuff, and far more access to great works of art and culture, than when she dreamed all this up in 1918. While we don’t have world peace, the West has had something much more like peace than it ever had for the last 70 or so years. She thought this would happen because people, especially mothers, would prize their “wanted children” so much that they would never allow war.
And while that isn’t true, most people in the west now do have small families, and put a huge amount of time, money, love, and emphasis into those few children. And it’s all flowers and sunshine!
Actually, of course, child neglect and abuse is very much still here, child poverty is still immense, and while people certainly have a lot more sexual partners than they used to, they seem to make themselves just as miserable as they always have. Moreso, if you go by the “misery index.” People are LESS happy, homes are LESS stable, and even children are killing themselves at record rates. We’re aborting millions, and as any sort of suffering at all becomes unbearable to think about, adopting euthanasia and doctor-prescribed suicide pills. Our public health services are trying to get all poor women to have IUDs, because they’re “long-acting and removable!” But if those poor people never get them removed, they’ll be sterile. Problem solved, Margaret Sanger’s way! Our popular culture becomes more and more coarse, violent, and depraved. Both men and women both measure their lives and worth by how much work they do. And as we hate our lives and kill ourselves, we’re insisting the rest of the world adopt all our “enlightened” practices before we give them our money.
It’s like a dystopian novel, but so big and pervasive we’re all living in the middle of it without even seeing it.

  5. Eugenic and dysgenic are antonyms. Eugenics are beliefs and practices that allege to improve the genetic qualities of a population, whereas dysgenic practices degrade those qualities, allegedly.

“Improve” can be and often is subjective. What is improvement to one person might be degradation to another.

One aspect of eugenics is that proponents typically (usually) prescribe force as the means to their ends. Hitler is noted for use of force to achieve his Teutonic purity. Sanger preferred persuasion and facilitation, although she was not opposed to force in some instances.

Most people make the choice to breed (or not) with a willing partner. Force is not necessary; biological imperatives dominate.

Many people these days freely choose to terminate their bloodlines. LGBTQ’s for instance, willingly choose to eliminate their genes from gene pool. Is this eugenic or dysgenic? Is humanity improved or degraded when an LGBTQ opts out?

Briggs calls it dysgenic in the post: “… because of course homosexuality is extremely dysgenic. And therefore harmful to the species.”

The syllogism as stated is backwards. If a practice is harmful to the species, then it is dysgenic. Not the other way around. But this begs the question: is the free choice to remove ones genes from the gene pool really all that bad for the species?

I would argue it isn’t. Good riddance to faulty genes. Better for my progeny. But remember, I didn’t force anyone to make any choices, or even to persuade them. Defectives are free to defect if that’s what they want to do. I couldn’t and wouldn’t stop them even if I wanted to.

  6. “Time to get rid of confessionals and go to straight confessions to God, like all other Christian religions do.”
    There’s only one Christian religion.

” I have never understood the need for an intermediary. ”
John 20:23 He sanctioned (sanctified) an “intermediary.”

“I don’t mean to sound trite but I have never, ever gotten a satisfactory answer to why confession to a human being exists, as it is nowhere in the Bible, and only in one denomination.”

The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church is not a “denomination.” And it is clear that you have “never ever gotten a satisfactory answer” because you haven’t actually looked for one. Kind of scary what you might find, isn’t it? Might upset your whole apple cart. Easier to ramble on about how stupid all of humanity is (except for you of course).

  7. Sheri does make a good point that the church should abandon glass-walled reconciliation rooms and bring back dark private confessionals.

  8. Uncle Mike said: “Sanger preferred persuasion and facilitation, although she was not opposed to force in some instances.”
She preferred persuasion because she was against violence. She was quite willing, though, for every single “inferior” person to be rounded up and sterilized, which could only be done by force. And she thought it needed to be done as soon as possible, because the world faced a crisis of global proportions that was about to wipe out all the “good” people unless stopped within a few years. Sound familiar?

  9. JT the Orthodox and Oriental churches would like a word on your one true holy church headquartered in Rome. The church is the body of all believers.

  10. Good priests will go to jail under this mandatory reporting law. There are martyrs of the confessional, after all.
Bad priests will use this as an excuse to provide confession by appointment only, for fifteen minutes late on Tuesday mornings.
