    I’m with Alex. We’re going down. Our country is being taken over lunatics, criminals, atheists, hate mongers, dumb-ass do-gooders, Social Justice Churchmen, Progressives, BLM, Antifa, Commies, MSM, corrupt politicians, elites, big corporations, etc., etc.

    And the folks being taken over. Well, they hardly notice because they see it on Teevee which means its just entertainment. The kind of entertainment that should let us know it is the work of the devil. But we don’t. We are now inured to evil.

    The only answer is to return our minds and hearts to the will of God. Because this is not likely to happen, Alex is right about our downhill future.

    Not only did they have the moral, intellectual, spiritual, and physical convictions and energy to overthrow a tyrannical foreign despot, but they also had insights informed by history, and an understanding of human nature to create a system of finely tuned checks and balances in a republican democracy suitable for moral, educated, free men to rule ourselves.

Look no further than the first amendment and “freedom of religion,” which elevates error and gives it equal standing with truth. “Ordain” a lesbian, put her in clerics, and call her a “bishop.” Since that’s your “religion,” it’s legitimate. That’s the American way, from the start.

    Given the rampant iconoclasm being perpetrated and tolerated in the land of the “free,” here’s my idea.

    On Ellis Island stands a gift from the apostate French: a stone faced, mythical b!tch holding up that idiotic torch as if “enlightenment” liberalism is the light of the world, and of all things a broken chain around it’s feet, the masonic enlightenment being no longer shackled to truth. How’s that working out?

    I say we topple it. But not out of the desire for mindless destruction which is typical of the “woke.” We’re builders, not destroyers.

    We melt that filthy whore down. We have a priest bless the copper from which that idol was built. Then we remold it in the image of real Lady Liberty, whose fiat ushered in our freedom, holding up the real Light of the world: her Son and our Lord, and adorned with the real chain of true liberty, the holy Rosary.     Happy Independence Day everyone. Don’t ever forget that if you wanted to protest with a bunch of marxists, you could be outside in large groups for weeks. But if you wanted to gather for a couple of hours today to watch fireworks, that is not allowed.

    You know, if I were a pin-head liberal, I might frequent this blog just for the schadenfreude. Plenty of negativity here.

    I don’t think of myself as much of an optimist; we engineers have to be pessimistic by nature, Murphy’s law and all that. While it does indeed seem like the libs are winning the day, with seemingly everyone drinking heartily of the BLM and economic shutdown koolaid, I am expecting a totally unexpected “the Lord really DOES work in mysterious ways” moment in the not-too-distant future.

    So cheer up, good things are coming, and we wont have to wait much longer.

    Yes indeed the Goober cancelled the Fourth of July in my state. No big community displays, but personal fireworks are sold out. Plenty of crackers and whizzers went off last night in my rural neighborhood, and more are expected tonight.

    But all day today many of my neighbors were target shooting — with guns. It’s a much different sound. I don’t think anybody is hoping for violence, but they are getting ready if necessary. Lots of survivalists and preppers around here; people who stockpile sacks of beans and rice — and ammunition.

    The never-ending hate emanating from the MSM and their ilk has folks worried. It’s discomforting.

    Big sign on the rural highway: Let Freedom Ring. The other side says God Shed His Grace On Thee.

    I have more positive expectations than many. We’re going to be okay when the smoke clears.

English boroughs voted for MPs that in turn ruled not only England but also the colonies, and that fact did not sit well with the colonists.

    Without that freedom of religion clause the constituent States would have had official state religions. And that would be Congregationalism, Presbyterianism, Episcopalianism, etc. while Catholicism would be punishable by death. So one would think Catholics would have been rather grateful for being granted toleration in Protestant polity. And that was exactly what freedom of religion clause was meant to do, prevent Christians from killing each other. In those times it did certainly not mean freedom from religion as it is taken to mean today, nor toleration for satanists and mock-religions.

    Gee, thanks for your expert lecture. While you’re busy scanning your history books, you may want to grab the dictionary too. Look this up: “pedant” and then look in the mirror. Where are you from, buddy?

    Americans rebelled against the entire British political system, and chose to secede from it. We told the King that we were Independent of him and all his lackeys, and snatched our freedom from their foreign and oppressive rule.

    The King was part of the British system, as was Parliament. And here’s what we Americans did: “The Americans petitioned to the King to intervene with the Parliament. However, George ignored the pleas and instead labeled the rebel leaders traitors. What ensued was a year of fighting. In 1776, the colonies declared their independence and made a list of their grievances to the King. ”

    The King was the head of state in reality, and symbolized the whole British political system.

    If you don’t think we rebelled against the King, you’re gonna need a big army of pedants to edit the Declaration of Independence:

    “The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

    Think that the Protestants were afraid of the authority of the Pope and that they assumed the allegiance of Catholics would be first to the Pope, rather than to God and country, as the Protestants saw it and maybe see it even now.

    Even today, there are misunderstandings by many Catholics and others, as to the authority which the Pope has over Catholics and within Catholicism.

    As to the King of England having any authority over political matters by the time America was founding fathers were forming its formal foundations?
    Well that’s just not a historic fact but something to do with the same fallacy which afflicts those who think insulting Britain means you have to insult the Monarch. It reveals an ignorance of the History of Britain and the British constitution in a basic sense, since history is my worst subject, It is to bark up the wrong tree. Tax is all about politics.

    “King and country” is a phrase used in military circles. Queen and country, actually. Although it is about an unenforceable sense of duty and loyalty. Like all duty and loyalty, unenforceable by written law. Politics is all about the written law. So are written constitutions.

    Charles II saw an end to the Monarch having dealings in matters of dirty daily politics.
    It’s supposed to be about rights and freedoms.

    …and a knowledge that the Monarch doesn’t demand or have anything to do with taxation. She is a back stop against outrageous laws which would restrict the freedom of religion amongst other things. She is protector of the faith.
