But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?
Maya is Maya Forstater, a woman who fired from her job in England for claiming biological sex is real, an action held justified and sane by a Tribunal in charge of such things.
Maya Forstater, 45, did not have her contract renewed after posting a series of tweets questioning government plans to let people declare their own gender.
Ms Forstater believes trans women holding certificates that recognise their transgender identity cannot describe themselves as women.
But that view is “not worthy of respect in a democratic society”, a judge said.
Ms Forstater, who had worked as a tax expert at the think tank Center for Global Development, was not entitled to ignore the rights of a transgender person and the “enormous pain that can be caused by misgendering”, employment judge James Tayler said.
Ms Forstater was “absolutist” in her view, he concluded in a 26-page judgement.
“It is a core component of her belief that she will refer to a person by the sex she considered appropriate even if it violates their dignity and/or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment,” he continued.
“The approach is not worthy of respect in a democratic society.”
It is indeed “absolutist” to say that biological sex exists. This “absolutist” position is what accounted for the birth of this idiot judge.
Well, I say idiot, but it’s worth pondering the reason it (I wouldn’t want to presume the gender of this creature) used. The BBC was right in singling out “not worthy of respect in a democratic society”. This is key.
This is the voting fallacy, combined with a growing gnosticism. The voting fallacy, well beloved in our sort of one-creature-one-vote democracies, says that whatever the simple majority declares as true and moral is true and moral because majorities make or re-make reality.
Yet majorities wouldn’t be able to re-make reality without that gnosticism, a philosophy which claims we are not what we are, but what we believe we are. Consider what evidence there is for a man who believes he is a woman to claim he is a woman. Only his desire, and nothing more. All objective measurements, all based on Reality, are ruled out of consideration. In Forstater’s case, officially ruled out of consideration.
If you cannot use your senses, or genetics, or anything else objective, you are forced to rely solely on what the person claims. Words are like magic! They re-make Reality itself. How could Rowling not now this?
Anyway, Forstater was canned, as we say, or sacked as the perfidious Albions say. And Rowling said what she said.
That’s when her Legion of LARPers started casting hate spells against their one-time heroine. I suppose I should “atehay spells”, given Rowling’s preference for pig Latin.
The left “chimped out”. It got so bad they had to import poop into their cells so they wouldn’t run out of it to throw. The Twitter Blue Cheka were in particularly fine form.
Some creature at Vox tweeted “Vox is getting totally ratioed by Nazis over my JKR article, so to spite them all, please click on it one more time”, from which we must conclude that only Nazis believe in biological sex.
A doctor, also representing a growing trend, said “I’m not here to cancel JK Rowling as a person and stoke mob outrage. I’m just here to educate and inform. Trans rights are human rights and trans women are women. Also, white feminism can sometimes intersect with trans exclusion or white supremacy, which is unjust.”
My theory is some quacks are happy to go along with “trans” fantasies so that they can increase their billing.
But it must be obvious that anybody who says “transwoman” is both acknowledging the reality of biological sex and that the person referred to is not a woman. If the person referred to is a woman then they would say “woman” and wouldn’t bother with the “trans.” Saying “trans” admits the error.
Luke Skywalker, ceding the last of his waning masculinity, said “Ignorance is no excuse, but I liked the tweet without understanding what the last line or hashtags meant. It was the 1st 4 lines I liked & I didn’t realize it had any transphobic connotation.”
There are tens of thousands of responses. There seemed to be an implicit contest to see who could be the most grieved-shocked-outraged.
Perhaps something good will come out of this. It’s a long shot, but maybe the deluded in their rage will dump their childish Harry Potter obsession.
On the other hand, probably not. It’s instead clear they’re coming for you, dear reader, if you still hold to Reality.
